看千位 = lihat tempat ribu 四个答案的末三位都是 750，只有千位不同，所以不能只看最后几位来配对。先约数估一估每张题目卡大约是几千，再准确计算出千位，就能找到对的答案卡。连续减法的卡要减两次。 例子：2 000 − 250 = 1 750（大约 2 000 少一点，千位是 1）。 注意：连续减法只减一次，千位就会多 1，配错答案卡。

look at the thousands = lihat tempat ribu All four answers end in 750, so only the thousands digit is different and you cannot match by the last digits. First estimate about how many thousands each question card is, then calculate the thousands digit exactly to find the right answer card. Cards with two minus signs need two subtractions. Example: 2 000 − 250 = 1 750 (a little less than 2 000, so the thousands digit is 1). Watch out: subtracting only once on a two-step card makes the thousands 1 too big.

连续减配对 = padankan tolak berturut-turut 先把两个减数合起来再减会比较快：先算 200 + 100 = 300，再算 900 − 300。其他两张卡也一样，先把后面两个数加起来，再用第一个数去减。 例子：800 − 300 − 100 → 先算 300 + 100 = 400，再算 800 − 400 = 400。 注意：第一个数不能跟减数加在一起。

matching successive subtraction = padankan tolak berturut-turut Combining the two numbers taken away is quicker: first 200 + 100 = 300, then 900 − 300. Do the same with the other two cards: add the last two numbers, then take the total away from the first number. Example: 800 − 300 − 100 → first 300 + 100 = 400, then 800 − 400 = 400. Watch out: never add the first number to the numbers being taken away.

make your own question = bina soalan sendiri Use the digit cards to build your own successive subtraction: the first number is the greatest four-digit number from 8, 6, 5, 2, which is 8 652; the second is the smallest three-digit number from 1, 3, 4, which is 134; the third is the smallest two-digit number from 7 and 9, which is 79. The number sentence is 8 652 − 134 − 79. Example: cards 3, 9, 1, 5 make 9 531 at most; cards 6, 2 make 26 at least. Watch out: the first number must be the biggest so there is enough to take away twice.

Watch out: 8 518 is only step 1; 8 449 forgets to make the tens 1 smaller after borrowing in step 2.

用计算器检查 = semak dengan kalkulator 自己算完以后，用计算器按一次：8652、−、134、−、79、=，屏幕显示 8439。和自己的答案一样，就是对的；不一样，就回去一步一步检查，看看是哪一步漏了借位。两个人玩的时候，可以轮流出题，再互相用计算器检查。 例子：自己算 5 000 − 1 200 − 300 = 3 500，计算器也显示 3500 ✔。 注意：计算器只用来检查；按错一个键（例如把 79 按成 97），计算器的答案也会错。

If it matches your answer, you are right; if not, check each step again to find where you forgot to borrow. With a partner, take turns making a question and checking each other with the calculator. Example: you work out 5 000 − 1 200 − 300 = 3 500 and the calculator also shows 3500 ✔. Watch out: the calculator is only for checking; pressing a wrong key (such as 97 for 79) gives a wrong answer too.

奖励卡 = kad bonus 第一步 7 846 − 1 523 = 6 323；第二步 6 323 − 302 = 6 021。两步都不用退位，但要记得第二步还要再减。连续减法一共有两个减号，就要减两次，一次也不能少。 例子：5 555 − 1 111 − 222 = 4 222。 注意：6 323 只完成了第一步。

bonus card = kad bonus Step 1: 7 846 − 1 523 = 6 323. Step 2: 6 323 − 302 = 6 021. Neither step needs regrouping, but remember there is a second step. Example: 5 555 − 1 111 − 222 = 4 222. Watch out: 6 323 only finishes step 1.
